Bjoern Schumacher
Prof. Dr. Björn Schumacher is President of the German Society for Aging Research and Chair for Genome Stability in Ageing and Disease at the CECAD Research Center at the Institute for Genetics, University of Cologne.This international center explores the causes of aging processes and aging-associated disorders. CECAD scientists collaborate with other leading research centers worldwide to conduct the basic scientific research needed in order to develop new treatments for aging-associated diseases including dementia, diabetes, chronic inflammation, cancer, infection, chronic kidney disease, and arteriosclerosis.As a team leader and educator, Dr. Schumacher has a talent for explaining complex processes in clear terms.The foreword is written by Prof. Dr. Jan Vijg, Professor and Chair of Molecular Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City. He published the book The American Technological Challenge: Stagnation and Decline in the 21st Century with Algora in 2011.
