Donald Dobkin

Donald Dobkin is a prolific writer and internationally renowned lawyer, having handled over 5000 cases in his 30-year career. His writings on immigration law, administrative law, civil liberties and constitutional law have been published in leading reviews, journals and as book chapters. Mr. Dobkin holds law degrees from both Canada (LL.B., Windsor) and the United States (LL.M., Northwestern) and has done Political Science graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. After receiving his Masters degree from Northwestern University Law School, Mr. Dobkin began his career as immigration counsel to the American Medical Assn. From there he went on to found Dobkin & Associates where he served as President for over 20 years. Mr. Dobkin has held Martindale-Hubbell’s highest “av” rating for more than 25 consecutive years, and last year was recognized as one of Metro Detroit’s top lawyers by DB magazine. Mr. Dobkin’s work has been featured in Immigration Lawyers Weekly, The Journal of the International Bar Association, and numerous websites including Immigration Law Professor Blog, Administrative Law Professor Blog, Legal History blog, ILW.COM, Interpreter Releases, International Bar Association, and the Canadian American Bar Association to name but a few. His latest publication appeared in the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, the world’s leading immigration law compendium. A much sought-after speaker, Donald has lectured on immigration issues at universities and professional associations across the United States, Canada and England and has made presentations of his scholarly works at numerous academic meetings. He is Emeritus Chair of the Oakland County, Michigan Bar Association, Immigration Law Section.
